Admission Rules

Admission Process

  • Candidates/students can download the Prospectus-cum-Handbook of Information online at: bit.ly/GDCSihuntaProspectus. Admission Form will be available at Office of the College for a fee of ₹20. Use only a BLUE/BLACK Ballpoint Pen to Fill the Admission Form. The candidate/student can approach the Admission Committee (during college hours) if they find any difficulty in filling up the admission form.
  • Candidates/Students are required to submit the completed Admission Form along with photocopies or originals of the necessary documents to the Office of the College and retrieve them during the Counselling Session.
  • The merit lists will be displayed as per the schedule mentioned in the prospectus.
  • After getting the approved Admission Form, applicants are advised to deposit their fees in the Office of the College as per the schedule mentioned therein.

Eligibility For Admission

A pass in the Senior Secondary (10+2) Examination (Academic Stream) conducted by the H.P Board of School Education or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the various bodies of the University

B.A. 1st Year

33% Marks in aggregate including all the subjects

B.Com. 1st Year

40% Marks with Commerce (33% Marks for Girl Candidates)
OR
45% Marks in aggregate with Mathematics/Economics as Compulsory
Subjects (40% Marks for Girl Candidates)

Note: A Relaxation of 5% Marks for SC/ST Candidates is applicable.

As per the direction of the Hon’ble High Court, an applicant failing in all subjects or having a compartment in 10+2 will not be admitted.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Upper Age Limit for admission to B.A./B.Com. 1st Year is 23 years for Boys and 25 years for Girls as on 1st July, 2024. An Age Relaxation of 3 years is applicable to SC/ST candidates. In exceptional cases, Age Relaxation of 6 months for any candidate may be granted with the permission of Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Admission Rules

  • Provisional Admission will be made on the recommendation of the Admission Committee strictly on the fulfilment of Eligibility Conditions
  • All admissions will be provisional subject to be approval of Vice-Chancellor of the University.
  • All terms and conditions of the admission and fee structure can be changed or modified as per directions of the University.
  • A candidate/student rusticated/expelled by any college/university or found involved in any in-disciplinary activities in the preceding year(s) will not be admitted in the college.
  • If the student gets admission by furnishing incorrect information or by concealing the facts,  his/ her admission will be cancelled on detection of such fault by the University/College.
  • In spite of the eligibility for admission, the principal can refuse admission if the conduct of the student has not been up to the mark during previous year.
  • The principal reserves the right to reject or cancel the admission of any student without assigning any reason(s) or explanation if situation warrants so.

Migration Rules

  • A student can migrate from one college to another only after completing the first year, within 10 days of starting next year under the rules laid down by the University. However, students migrating from other colleges must obtain the approval of the concerned Admission Committee.
  • Students who migrate either from this college to any other or vice-versa must ensure that the college name is changed on university online Rolls with the RUSA co-coordinator and concerned clerk.
  • Inter-institutional migration (i.e., from one college to another and from a college to ICDEOL and viceversa) of students will be allowed when No Objection Certificate (NOC) is obtained from both the relieving and receiving institutions, duly signed by both the Principals/Director to ascertain that the DSC-1/DSC-2 subjects being studied by the students are available in the receiving institution. The credits and grades earned will be carried over

Abbreviations: EWS = Economically Weaker Section, SC = Scheduled Caste, ST = Scheduled Tribe, SP = Sports, CL = Cultural Activities, PC = Physically Challenged/Person with Disability(PwD)
Note: A certificate from competent authorities is required at the time of filling out the online form to claim
reservation in the categories mentioned in the roster, failing which the applicant will have no right to get
admission in the said category. Seats are also reserved over and above the allotted seats for the single girl child.

University Registration

Fresh students must get registered with the University. For this, attested copy of Matriculation and 10+2 certificates are required. Each student will be issued a unique Registration Number by the University and no result will be declared without the Registration Number.

  • Aadhaar (Photocopy)
  • Category Certificate (Photocopy) (if applicable)
  • IRDP Certificate (Photocopy) (Latest but not older than 6 Months) (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate (>40% Disability) (Photocopy) (if applicable)

Note:-

  • Applicant/Student is advised to attach Self-attested Copies of Relevant Certificates/Documents at the time of submission of the Admission Form and Original Certificates/Documents are to be produced at the time of Counselling/Admission for verification.
  • Regular Candidates must attach Character Certificate (in Original) from head of the institution lastattended. In case of Private/Gap Year Candidates, the Character Certificate must have been issued by a Gazetted Officer/Panchayat Pradhan/Ward Counsellor but not older than 6 months from the day of submission of Admission Form.
  • For a seat against the ‘Single Girl Child’ category, an affidavit proclaiming the same from the parents is to be submitted with the admission form.
  • A student/applicant seeking admission from Board/University other than Himachal Pradesh must attach a copy of the Migration Certificate and the Original Certificate must be submitted at the Time of Counselling.
  • Certificate of SC/ST/EWS from Magistrate Class-1 (Authorised Signatory) should be provided by those seeking relaxation in age/marks.
  • Any Gap in the Academic Career of the applicant must be supported by documentary evidence/affidavit as proof of his/ her activities during the period of the gap.
