BA Syllabus

 

Govt. College Una has been running its BA course since its inception in the year 1968. Since then, many of our BA graduates have been able to reach great milestones in life and touch the pinnacles of glory and success. BA is a three years Degree course in which the students have the choice to study subjects like English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Economics, Public Administration, Sociology, Education, Geography, Journalism, Mathematics, Music, Tourism etc. Presently, this course is being run under the new CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) introduced in Himachal Pradesh in the year 2013.

Admission to BA course is made on the basis of marks secured by the students in their 10+2 board examinations and the minimum marks required for the admission are 33%. At the time of their admission the students have to choose any two subjects of their choice from English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Economics, Public Administration, Sociology, Education, Geography, Journalism, Mathematics, Music, and Tourism which are called as Discipline Specific Elective Courses (DSEs). In addition to these two DSEs, the students have to study English and Hindi or Sanskrit as their compulsory courses and English/Hindi and Environment Science as Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECCs) in the first year. In the second year of BA the students continue with their DSEs and compulsory subjects, but in place of AECCs they have to opt for two Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs). In the third or final year the students continue with their DSEs and SECs, but in place of two Compulsory courses they have to opt two Generic Elective Courses (GEs). So on the whole the students study eight courses in first year, second year and third year of their degree which make twenty four courses/ papers in all.
